"We haven't made that jump into summer weather quite yet," says Hamilton. Nova Scotians in the southern part of the province will be more likely to get beach days than those in northern areas. "Especially for northern sections of the Maritimes, it'll be a little bit cooler than last season." "We could still get a couple of days this summer with those values, but that's not going to be the pattern," he says. The meteorologist says last summer, the humidex hit the mid-to-upper 30s on several occasions. "We might go into a few moderately long dry stretches, but it should balance out when all is said and done with some heavier downpours," says Hamilton. "We do still have to watch for muggy nights, and a little big more fog than normal, especially along the coast line."īut contrasting the humidity, Atlantic Canada may also see periods of draught this summer. "We're going to be working with a ltitle bit more moisture than what's considered normal for the summer ahead," he says. Hamilton says people in the Maritimes can expect more heat and humidity than normal - but not quite as much as last year. The summer 2019 forecast projects the average for June, July and August weather. "It will be a slow start to the summer season across the Maritimes, unfortunately," says Tyler Hamilton, meteorologist at The Weather Network based in Oakville, Ontario. Atlantic Canada still has a while to wait for warmer weather to make its appearance.
